Urban Springs
It does not rain in Tel Aviv in summer; but it does get very humid.
The humidity condenses in countless air-conditioners and the water is drained through ubiquitous ribbed white hoses to buckets, potted plants or to the sidewalks.
On the sidewalk a mini-micro-climate is created: slime and plants and moss grow. Birds, insects and small mammals come to drink.
It becomes, in fact, for the duration of the summer, an oasis. |
